Second year of Interactive Animation

The second year will consolidate students’ knowledge already gained during the first year of the Interactive Animation course and in addition will include business and marketing as well as in depth technical and academic skills. The intention is to broaden the learning experience beyond purely vocational type training by including a wider knowledge base and research-based educational experience.


The degree is taught and administered by QANTM College and validated by Middlesex University, London. The bachelor of science (honours) degree is a direct path to higher post graduate degrees.Middlesex University awards graduates of the QANTM degree programmes with the title of bachelor of science (hons). The appendix “honours” describes the award of an additional qualification. In order to receive the title, students must produce a personal study project: the so-called honours project.

Main modules covered during this course:

  • Managing new media projects:
    Provides students with a knowledge and understanding of the methodologies used for managing multimedia projects and the opportunity to develop skills through actually applying the most appropriate methods and solutions to a large new media production that they will produce.

  • New media business compliance:
    Will provide students with an understanding of the major legal issues and major quality assurance issues affecting the new media industry. Develops students’ skills to assure compliance in the most appropriate manner, with particular emphasis on new media projects. In exhibiting legal and quality compliance measures, students will be able to link assessment tasks to real projects in other modules.

  • Interactive Animation:
    Provides students with the theories and skills to produce user driven animations for games or simulations. Develops students’ knowledge of theories of interactivity and practical techniques for creating and manipulating 3D objects and environments.

  • Advanced Character Animation:
    Develops in-depth expertise in advanced character animation techniques such as gesture and body language, facial animation, comedic timing and general acting theories, history and principles. Explores the underlying origins of emotional response, both anatomical and psychological, enabling students to create psychologically truthful performances in their character animations.

  • Interactive Entertainment Project:
    (length of 12 months): Enables students to complete all necessary design activities and outputs with respect to a client-driven interactive entertainment project such as a game. In the production phase the product will be produced according to the set outlines and goals in the design phase.

  • New media internship:
    Prepares students for professional practice in the new media industry by introducing them to the role of effective interpersonal communication, business communication, marketing, management, business principles and ethics within contemporary professional contexts.
